World’s 1st 4-Ton Battery Electric Planes to Fly in US, 505-Mile Range on 30-Min Charge
Eviation Aircraft, the pioneering company behind the world’s first all-electric plane, Alice, has announced a new partnership with UrbanLink Air Mobility, based in South Florida. This collaboration includes a commitment from UrbanLink to acquire 10 Alice commuter aircraft, with an option to purchase an additional 10. The partnership marks a significant step forward in the development of Advanced Air Mobility.
UrbanLink plans to integrate the all-electric Alice planes into its fleet, supporting its mission to create an end-to-end zero-emission transportation network, which includes aircraft, marine vessels, and ground vehicles. Operating in key cities such as Miami, Los Angeles, and San Juan, Puerto Rico, Alice will be a crucial part of UrbanLink’s urban mobility solutions.
Eviation’s Alice aircraft, available in both 9-seat commuter and cargo models, offers a sustainable, cost-effective alternative for point-to-point travel. With over $5 billion in orders, Alice is set to revolutionise the future of eco-friendly aviation. The plane measures 57 feet in length, powered by an 8,000-pound (4-ton) battery, and boasts a maximum cruise speed of 250 knots (287 miles per hour). It can fly approximately 440 nautical miles (505 miles) on just 30 minutes of charging.
While Alice is designed for short-haul flights, Eviation envisions larger electric planes for 20 to 40 passengers within the next seven to ten years. UrbanLink’s commitment to deploying Alice aligns with broader efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve the U.S. target of net-zero emissions by 2050. This goal requires a transformation of various sectors, including energy, agriculture, and transportation, and advancements in electric aviation will play a key role.
“Eviation and UrbanLink share the vision of making electric air travel an everyday reality,” said Eviation CEO Andre Stein. “As Alice approaches entry into service, partnerships like this will help realise a future of accessible, affordable, and eco-friendly air travel.” UrbanLink Founder and Chairman Ed Wegel added, “Our order of Eviation’s Alice aircraft completes the final piece of our all-electric operations plan, allowing us to offer 9-seat, zero-emission flights across our network.”
