Germany’s New Solar Additions Hit 3.7 GW In Q1

At the close of March 2024, Germany’s cumulative installed PV capacity stood at 86.2 GW, as reported by the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). March saw the registration of 1,098.8 MW of new PV systems, a slight decline from February’s 1,071.3 MW and from March 2023’s 944 MW. Over the first quarter of the year, newly installed PV capacity reached 3.71 GW, compared to approximately 2.65 GW during the same period in the previous year. Bavaria led the charge with 770 MW of installed capacity, followed by Saxony with 599.4 MW and Baden-Württemberg with 547 MW. Germany aims to achieve a solar target of 215 GW by 2030, requiring a minimum monthly addition of 1.55 GW.
